There are organised
groups, centres and open playing fields for just
about every type of sport.
There are incredibly
active communities with constant evidence of
organised sports and active families. On almost any
given weekend during the year you can pass by parks
which will be full of cricket or football matches.
Pools and beaches are very popular all summer with
many of them heated and open throughout the winter.
Jogging and cycle paths have almost always got
somebody on them - pedestrian, peddle, pram and
pooch congestion on sunny days and die-hard joggers
and cyclists in the rain.
You can involve your
child in sports and activities every day throughout
the year. Some centres are open to the public at any
time while some clubs need registration and season
commitment. Parks and sporting fields are managed by
local councils and listed on their websites with
details about facilities available, accessibility
and regulations if any.
Many junior sporting
clubs are run by dedicated teams of volunteer
parents who contribute their time from home and meet
at home organising their teams, and meet at home
grounds during the season. In many cases clubs and
teams do not have a dedicated phone number but their
websites generally provide the mobile number of the
current club President, Secretary or Registrars.
Positions can change from season to season as
children come and go from clubs. General numbers and
email have been provided in this section where
available.
