This Privacy policy aims to clearly express MMSE's policies on how business and personal information is managed.

Collection of business information

Mips Media & Special Events (MMSE), Publisher of Children's Guide, collects detailed information as provided and approved by businesses and organisations who have registered to be in Children's Guide for promotional and informative purposes. Public information (not bound by copyright, trademark or intellectual property laws) may also be included about some businesses. See the Disclaimer page for further details on how information is collected. MMSE does not sell or pass on business data in any format, to any other parties. MMSE only publishes business information additional to public information which has been approved by each business or organisation.

Collection of personal information

MMSE collects direct contact details for at least one person in each business or organisation who is in a position to approve the use of data, logos, graphics or other intellectual property of that business to be published in Children's Guide. MMSE does not publish or disclose this information to any other individuals, subscribers, businesses or third parties. MMSE only uses these contact details to communicate with businesses about their listing in Children's Guide, updating business information, providing news or special offers and generally communicating about the activities of Children's Guide.

MMSE collects information from individuals, businesses and other organisations who subscribe to receive news updates from Children's Guide. Any personal or contact details provided to MMSE will not be disclosed to any of the businesses listed in Children's Guide, sold or passed on to third parties, or used for any other purposes other than receiving news updates from Children's Guide. Subscribers may update their details or request to be removed from the mailing list at any time by calling, emailing or via the Contact page of the Children's Guide website.

Use and disclosure

Businesses may provide and approve their details to be published in Children's Guide, to be used in Children's Guide social  media or marketing materials, or to be mentioned in media releases. This information appears on the Children's Guide website, social media and marketing materials. Once the information is published, it is available publicly in Australia and internationally and we take no responsibility for individuals, businesses or other parties who might contact businesses or organisations listed in Children's Guide.

By registering business details a business automatically approves mention on the Children's Guide FaceBook pages, Twitter and Blog. Business may request via email if they do not wish this to happen. MMSE does not seek consent for each social media update. Depending on the level of business registration (Smiling, Clapping, Dancing, Flying) scheduling of each social media update is determined at the start of the registration process.

An opt out option is available for all registered businesses to Business E-news. Businesses need to receive e-news and business updates as long as they are registered with Children's Guide. If a business no longer wishes to be registered it will cease to appear in Children's Guide. MMSE must keep a record of all previous business listings. Businesses can re-register at any time. MMSE might occasionally make individual contact with an un-subscribed business to see if they want to re-register. MMSE does not SPAM.

Once a personal subscriber unsubscribes, their details are completely deleted. Individuals will need to subscribe again to start receiving e-news, FaceBook or Twitter updates again.

MMSE has no control over any other business or individual's FaceBook, Twitter or other social media accounts or how users are depicted. FaceBook, Twitter and other social media users must set their own privacy settings. Please refer to FaceBook, Twitter and other social media privacy policies and settings. If users link to an external site from Children's Guide or any of the businesses listed throughout this site, MMSE is not responsible for and has no control over how any external website collects or handles personal information.

MMSE does not charge individuals, businesses, media or any other parties for access to information in Children's Guide, e-news, special offers, calendar, FaceBook, Twitter or Blog.

Businesses and subscribers can request to find out what information is stored about them at any time.

When contacting MMSE, subscribers must verify their email address or other personal details. MMSE will not offer the information in case it is someone else calling trying to get information on one of our subscribers.

MMSE will always seek consent in writing from businesses or subscribers to use information or personal details for any purposes other than as outlined above.

Data quality

MMSE regularly reminds businesses and subscribers to keep their information and contact details up to date. Please see Disclaimer page for information and policies regarding accuracy and quality of data provided by businesses or organisations.

Data security

MMSE has taken steps to ensure that our data is secure. We do not authorise external access or allow other parties to modify or disclose our data. All files are backed up each week and kept in hard copy. Updated information always overrides electronic information in our business database. Hard copy and financial files are kept for as many years as legally required as determined by taxation and copyright laws. Subscriber list is printed out once a week and previous lists shredded.

Anonymity

Individuals can always send an anonymous message to MMSE / Children's Guide via the Comment / Feedback box on the Contact page of the Children's Guide website. MMSE does not track IP addresses or use other identifiers for messages which have come in anonymously.
